Terms of Use
Effective 2026-08-28 · Last updated 2026-08-30
Read this part if you read nothing else. MealAce helps you plan meals around allergies you record. It is a planning tool, not a medical device, and it cannot see what is actually in the food you buy. Recipes and ingredient data can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. Manufacturers change formulations and shared equipment causes cross-contact. Always read the label on the actual product before you cook it or serve it. If someone in your household has a diagnosed allergy, your allergist's advice comes first, always.
1. Agreement
These terms apply when you use the MealAce app for iPhone or this website. If you do not agree with them, please do not use MealAce.
MealAce is licensed to you, not sold. Your licence is also governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, Apple's standard EULA for App Store apps. Where these terms and Apple's standard EULA differ, the stricter protection for you applies, and nothing here removes a right Apple's agreement gives you.
2. Allergy and food safety
MealAce checks recipes against the allergies, intolerances and exclusions that you enter. It can only be as accurate as what you record and as the recipe data it holds.
MealAce does not:
- know what is really inside a product on a shelf,
- know about cross-contact in a factory, a restaurant or your own kitchen,
- detect a manufacturer changing an ingredient,
- give medical, dietary, or nutritional advice.
Nothing in MealAce replaces reading a label, asking a manufacturer, or following your doctor's or allergist's instructions. You are responsible for the food you serve. If you think someone is having an allergic reaction, treat it as an emergency and get medical help.
Allergy checking is not behind the paywall. It works whether or not you subscribe, and we will not put it behind the paywall later.
3. Your data
MealAce has no account and no server. What you enter stays on your iPhone. The Privacy Policy explains this in full and is part of these terms.
Because your household data lives only on your device, you are responsible for your own backups. If you delete the app, or lose or reset your device, we cannot recover what was in it. We do not have a copy.
4. Using MealAce
MealAce is for personal, household use. Please do not:
- copy, resell or redistribute the app or its recipe content,
- reverse engineer the app except where the law says you may,
- use MealAce to give food-safety guidance to people outside your own household as if it were professional advice.
The app, its design, its text and its recipe content belong to us or to our licensors. The data you enter belongs to you.
5. MealAce Plus subscriptions
MealAce is free to use. MealAce Plus is an optional auto-renewable subscription that unlocks additional planning features. It is sold in monthly and annual terms.
- The price, the term, and any free trial are shown in the app before you confirm, in your local currency, exactly as the App Store reports them.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically at the end of each term unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before that term ends.
- Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the new term starts.
- You manage and cancel the subscription in the Settings app on your iPhone, under your Apple Account, not inside MealAce. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
- If a free trial is offered and you subscribe before the trial ends, any unused part of the trial is forfeited, as Apple requires.
- You can restore an existing subscription on a new device with "Restore purchases". Restoring is always free.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Request one through Apple's Report a Problem page.
We may change what MealAce Plus includes or what it costs. If we do, the change applies to the next renewal, not to a term you have already paid for, and it will be shown to you before you renew.
6. Availability
MealAce is provided as it is. We work hard on it, but we cannot promise it will be free of errors, that a recipe will suit your household, or that it will always be available. We may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue a paid feature during a term you have paid for, contact us and we will help you get that term refunded through Apple.
7. Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of MealAce, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for MealAce in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some places do not allow certain exclusions, and in those places these limits apply only as far as the law permits. You may also have consumer rights that these terms cannot take away.
8. Apple
Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for MealAce or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support for MealAce. If MealAce fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may tell Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; beyond that, Apple has no other warranty obligation for MealAce. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top will change, and the current version always lives at this address. Continuing to use MealAce after an update means you accept the updated terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION TO BE CONFIRMED BEFORE PUBLICATION], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. This does not remove any consumer protection you are entitled to where you live.
